- How does Rotary of Guelph celebrate earth Day ? plants 4 – 5 thousand trees
- How much did Canada donate to eradicate polio? $100 million
Updates:
- Dragonboats raised $25,000
- Radiothion Donation $3,500
- Meeting Changes: inviting more people to regular meeting and setting aside time for committee meetings
- Polio BBQ raised $525
- Rotary Roses: November 3 and 4 delivery. So far 425 roses sold
- Meals on Wheels: Need volunteers for November date
- Next Meeting: Wear your Halloween costume
- Polio Plus Donation: $5000 will be donated to Rotary International
Kathi Dick Presentation:
- Thanked club for all community work
- District is looking for help on Committee who will select next year’s District Governor
- Kathi’s visit to Tanzania in 2011 inspired her to be more involved with Rotary
- Some goals for the District this year are to support clubs, enhance public image and enhance membership
- The new strategic plan for the district will be in place by 2018
- Policy and procedures will be updated
- Rotary Peace Centre project is still in progress
- Online tools will be updated
- Membership is an issue for most clubs – should be focusing on new members that have been involved for 2 years or less. There is a focus on monitoring new members
- Each club is being asked to go onto Rotary Club Central to enter hours and dollars that are spent on fundraising
- Earth Day each Rotarian will be asked to plant one tree
- Rotary International Foundation has a world reach and is making a difference in communities and around the world
- June 23, 2018 there will be a pre-convention event at the Royal Canadian Yacht club. Cost is $99pp and transportation is $15
- International Convention is in Toronto June 23 – 27 2018
